The Pines Calyx to benefit from launch of high speed trains

Aug 28, 2009

One of the UK's most eco-friendly conference and events venues is now even more accessible thanks to the launch of 140mph high-speed train services to Kent.

The Pines Calyx centre at St Margaret's near Dover hopes to benefit from the launch of Southeastern's new fleet of high speed trains linking London to Kent. The new service has slashed journey times from London to Dover from two hours to one. Preview services start on 7 September, with a full timetable coming in December.

The Pines Calyx has been hailed as the "greenest" conference venue in Britain following its opening in 2006. Built using sustainable materials and methods of construction, the low carbon venue is surrounded by six acres of tranquil gardens and overlooks the cove at St. Margaret's Bay.

"The arrival of fast train services to London is a huge boost to us and we are confident it will have a very positive impact on our business," said Louise Kjaertinge, General Manager. "The Pines Calyx is a naturally inspiring place for meetings, conferences, training events and workshops and it is now even easier for companies to reach us."

For any accommodation requirements, The Pines Calyx has teamed up with two local hotels, The White Cliffs Hotel and Wallett's Court Country House Hotel, offering 24 hour packages starting from £129 per delegate. "Our delegates are able to have their conference in a sustainable venue and stay and eat locally, which we know fits in with those clients who have sustainability policies as well as our very own care for the environment," says Louise.
