Canterbury Christ Church University celebrates five years at the Universities of Medway
Canterbury Christ Church University celebrated five years at the Universities of Medway Campus this week with the announcement of 200 more student places.
More local people can now benefit from Canterbury Christ Church courses at Medway following the Higher Education Funding Council for England's latest investment in Medway.
Peter Milburn, Director of Medway Campus for Canterbury Christ Church, said: "The allocation of additional students represents a big vote of confidence in the work being undertaken on the campus.
"As one of the largest regional providers of education, training and research for the public sector Canterbury Christ Church University is proud of the way our Medway Campus has grown over the last five years and continues to proactively support the ongoing regeneration of Medway and the Thames Gateway."
Over the past five years there has been continuous growth and development in student, staff and teaching facilities. In July of this year the University extended its Medway Campus by opening Cathedral Court. Two former blocks of council buildings were transformed into fantastic facilities for the Department of Health, Wellbeing and the Family; this included six large seminar rooms, two spacious student breakout rooms, staff offices and an enhanced open access computer facility.
The University's Vice Chancellor, Professor Michael Wright, celebrated the fifth anniversary with staff and students. He said: "We are celebrating five years at Medway. The teaching that goes on here, which is underpinned by important research, shows we are developing our knowledge and making a wider contribution.
"We now have two departments based at Medway: Health, Wellbeing and the Family and the Centre for Health and Social Care Research. The fact that one of them is research focussed demonstrates that our Medway Campus covers the full range of activities."Source: Canterbury Christ Church University
