Jun 28, 2010

Flybe, the UK’s Number One Domestic airline, is celebrating after it topped the charts for UK short-haul airlines, trumping the likes of British Airways and BMI as well as Easyjet and Ryanair.

Which? is recognised as an independent consumer champion that publishes expert, unbiased information to help the public make the right choice, whatever they are buying.

The news is a further endorsement for the quality of the service offered from Manston thanks to Flybe’s daily service to Edinburgh and soon to start service to Manchester and onward connections to Belfast City, Glasgow and Inverness.

The survey, conducted using a sample of 5,745 people, rated airlines on areas including; cabin staff, cleanliness, seating arrangements, leg room, cabin baggage allowance, checked bags allowance, dealing with delays and value for money.

It’s official – Manston, Kent’s international airport, has the top rated UK airline according to consumer watchdog Which? Holiday.

The findings didn’t come as a surprise to Tom Wilson, Chief Executive of Infratil Airports Europe, the company which owns and manages Manston. He said: “The feedback from the passengers on our Edinburgh flights, since we started the daily service back in May, has been hugely positive and is testament to the professionalism of everybody at Flybe and staff here at the airport.”

Flybe triumphed after receiving top marks for cleanliness and seating arrangements. The airline also scored high points for its cabin staff, leg room, cabin baggage allowance, checked in bags allowance and the way in which they deal with delays.

Mike Rutter, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, added: “Flybe is extremely proud and delighted to have been named the top UK airline in the Which? Holiday popularity poll, especially receiving top marks in the cleanliness and seating arrangements categories.

“I would like to thank our staff who work tirelessly to provide our passengers with first class customer service at affordable prices, and our loyal passengers for helping us to accomplish these fantastic achievements.”
