Thousands of affordable homes to be built in Kent
The move is thanks to an investment by the Homes and Community Agency (HCA); offered in partnership with The Town and Country Housing Group (TCHG) as part of the HCA's National Affordable Homes programme.
According to kentnews.co.uk, it will see 1,136 new properties built throughout the county; although the locations are being kept under wraps for the time being. It is thought that planning permission has been gained for some of the homes already.
Dropping the average cost of living is likely to help Kent cement its reputation as one of the country's top business locations. Many of the county's residents had complained about the lack of affordable housing in an area where the majority of homes cost above the national average.
In an interview with build.co.uk, HCA executive director Terry Fuller claimed that he was thrilled with the final result of the negotiations.
He said: "The HCA is delighted that the Town and Country Housing Group has agreed a contract to deliver a large number of new affordable homes in the area.
"We will be working closely with them and our local authority partners to ensure these much-needed homes meet the needs of local people."
