Business can now be Belfast bound
The county’s business community can now reach Northern Ireland courtesy of Flybe’s new route to Belfast from Manston, Kent’s international airport.
The three times a week service from Manston to George Best Belfast City airport, flies at lunchtime on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. As a result it is now possible to arrange a business trip to the province or enjoy a short city break or time on the Antrim coast.
Charles Buchanan, CEO of Manston Airport, said: “This is great news for Manston and brings another important city and business community within 90 minutes of Kent.
“When you take into account the difficulties often associated with travelling on the M25, as well as the longer check-in times and greater distance from the car parking to the terminal, it is clear that Manston is now a real alternative for people looking to fly to Belfast.
“It's air travel as it should be - convenient, comfortable and relaxed.”
Flybe, which is Europe's largest regional airline and the UK's top domestic airline, is expected to carry an estimated 50,000 passengers on the Edinburgh and Belfast routes from Manston in the next twelve months, bringing a major tourism boost to the South East.
The new service was officially launched by Rt Hon Laura Sandys MP, Paul Willoughby from Flybe and David Foley of Thanet and Dover Chamber of Commerce.
This month also marks a successful year of the Flybe service to Edinburgh. Flights for Belfast can be booked via www.flybe.com with fares from just £29.99 one way, including taxes and charges.
