Jul 26, 2007

NIC Instruments has announced that it is expanding its operation in Folkestone, Kent with the help of Locate in Kent and the South East Grant Advisory Service (Se-gas).

The company, which manufactures high-risk search and bomb disposal equipment, applied for a Selective Finance for Investment in England (SFIE) grant. The funding will enable the company to invest in new plant, operations and machinery and add another four jobs to its existing team of 11 already at the site.

NIC Instruments was advised by the South East Grant Advisory Service, (Se-gas) which works to raise awareness about grant schemes available to eligible businesses and assists companies in the completion of applications. ‘Se-gas' funding is managed by investment promotion agency Locate in Kent.

Steve Wisbey, Managing Director of NIC Instruments said: "Our impressive product range makes us the world leader in our field. This grant will allow us to bring a new high value, technically innovative product to the market that we have been working on for the last two years, giving us a step change in profit and success. We will now be able to generate more jobs in high level technical areas and increase the level of training we provide."

Grants under the SFIE scheme are available to expanding businesses investing in property, plant and machinery to increase productivity in designated areas of the county.
