A new lease of life
In the coming year work will begin on a major regeneration of Dover town centre.
On a smaller scale, progress is already being made to bring derelict and unused properties across the district back to life.
Empty properties have been targeted by Dover District Council under the No Use Empty initiative and so far 21 buildings across the district have been brought back into use.
These buildings have been the focus of redevelopment because not only can they be dangerous, many children see them as urban play areas, they are also eyesores.
Susan Pledger, project manager of the No Use Empty campaign, said: "We have made excellent progress since the campaign was launched two years ago and have exceeded our target figures for bringing empty properties back into use."
