Seaside towns funding welcomed by Kent MP
A Kent MP has welcomed a Government announcement that it will plough millions of pounds into seaside towns.
Gwyn Prosser, Labour MP for Dover and Deal, said he would work closely with Dover District Council to apply for up to £4 million. The grants are made as part of the £45m Sea Change funding programme.
The council will apply for funds for transport-related schemes such as cable cars linking the Western Heights to the Western Docks and the Eastern Docks to Dover Castle, and a rapid bus system.
Mr Prosser said: "This is an opportunity to kick-start investment and regeneration in Dover and Deal and help improve the quality of life for residents and attract new visitors to the area. "I am proud of our rich heritage, castles and ancient monuments and look forward to seeing what opportunities there are to futher regenerate Dover and Deal."
