Kent Army Site Plan Boost to Jobs
Plans to build 500 new homes on the site of a former army barracks in Kent will help create jobs and keep youngsters in the town.
Developers English Partnerships have paid £18 million for the Connaught site in Dover.
The land, next to Dover Castle, is going to be transformed into a new community, bringing much needed new and affordable homes to the area.
The developers also hope the new "village" will speed up regeneration in the town, encouraging youngsters to set up home in the town, rather than moving away.
The former home to the Parachute Regiment covers and area of 56 hectares, 12.5 acres of which will be turned into new homes.
The next stage of seeing what people want built on the site is now getting underway.
A website has been created so local residents can leave their thoughts and ideas about the site.
On Saturday 15th November, the public are also being invited to have a look around the site, though people have to register first.
