Night flights from Manston approved
Feb 13, 2009
Kent International Airport has been given the go-ahead to run more night flights in a move that could create up to 200 jobs.
Councillors in Thanet last night voted overwhelmingly in favour of plans to extend the flight window, allowing planes to take off or land at Manston from 6am until 11.30pm. Only four voted against.
The decision paves the way for a major European airline to use the site for long-haul international cargo movements.
The as yet unnamed company, reportedly British Airways, wants to fly Boeing 747 aircraft into and out of the airport up to 11 times a week.
