New fast ferry for Dover
Apr 23, 2009
A new fast ferry is set to link the Port of Dover with Boulogne when it enters service next month.
The catamaran will be operated by French firm LD Lines and its introduction will create jobs, giving a welcome boost to the Dover economy.Specifically built for the European ferry market, it will be, at 112 metres, the largest fast ferry to operate between England and France.
The new vessel, which can carry freight and tourist traffic, will also allow the company to increase the number of return sailings to Boulogne from two to six.
LD Lines managing director Christophe Santoni said: "This is a very exciting, innovative step forward for LD Lines and with the introduction of this new high speed ferry, we will be dramatically revolutionising ferry transport across the channel."
