Airline services company arrives at London Ashford Airport

May 12, 2009

Air charter company Trans Euro Air has moved into London Ashford Airport, and offers a range of passenger and cargo air transport services to UK customers.

The company, which also operates from London Southend Airport in Essex, has occupied office space within the Lydd terminal building.

Trans Euro Air was established five years ago and specialises in providing air transport services in the UK and across continental Europe. For the passenger market, the firm offers air taxi hire and air charter for groups of up to 10 people. It has particular expertise in organising transport to major sporting events in Britain and overseas.

It also operates a successful international cargo service, providing customers with a rapid response service guaranteed to deliver shipments to destinations across Europe. Trans Euro Air operates a fleet of twin-engine turbo-prop aircraft, including a KingAir BE90, a Titan C404, a Seneca PA34 and a Navajo PA31.

Commercial manager Matt Case said the company decided to establish operations at Lydd because the site offered the company a highly cost-effective base which will enable the operator to further grow its business. "Initially we are basing two of our fleet at Lydd, with additional aircraft due to relocate here at a future date," he added.

Lydd managing director Cliff Spink said he was delighted to welcome Trans Euro Air to Shepway. "They recognise the many benefits of establishing operations in this corner of the South East and I'm sure they will enjoy a long and successful association with Lydd.

"Their arrival is a further sign of the growing confidence being shown in the ability of Lydd to attract a wide mix of air transport companies. We already play host to a scheduled airline in LyddAir, a flying club and an expanding aviation engineering maintenance site. In addition, our fixed base operator FAL Aviation provides a range of handling services to executive clients using Lydd.

"In recent months we have been in negotiation with a number of aviation-related businesses about moving to Lydd and I'm confident there will be more positive news in the months ahead," added Mr Spink.
