US owned Pfizer Inc discovers, develops, manufactures, and markets leading prescription medicines for humans and animals and many of the world's best-known consumer brands.

Pfizer Limited is the main UK subsidiary of Pfizer Inc and is now the largest pharmaceutical company in the United Kingdom and the top supplier of medicines to the NHS.

Around 3,500 people are employed by Pfizer in Sandwich, East Kent, which includes Pfizer's European Headquarters for Research and Development. Four of Pfizer's most successful medicines were discovered in Sandwich.

Pfizer is one of the largest employers in the area and the backbone of the local economy. However, it is not only an important employer but also the creator of community programmes concerning education, employment and the environment.
