Schools

East Kent is committed to growing the provision of high quality education and training facilities throughout the area. East Kent is home to over 185 primary and secondary schools.

East Kent offers a number of academies. In Thanet, The Marlowe Academy opened in September 2005 and has a dual specialism in performing arts and in business enterprise. When full, the academy will have over 1100 students.

The Folkestone Academy is one of the country's leading independent schools. It is also strongly supported by Kent County Council, Kent University and Canterbury Christ Church University. The design of the Academy buildings provides a state of the art learning environment. The Academy specialises in Art, Media and European Culture and has been identified by Kent County Council as its Centre of Excellence in Media and the Creative Arts.
