Manufacturing
From pharmaceuticals to paper and packaging, East Kent has a long tradition in manufacturing, employing 11,000 people in around 750 companies across a wide range of sectors.
East Kent is well positioned to attract investment from manufacturing companies. The University of Kent's School of Physical Sciences has one of the largest research populations with a total of 312 students. Particular areas of research relevant to manufacturing include the activities of the Centre for Materials Research and the Functional Materials Group in which chemists and physicists undertake joint research projects.
"Working with Locate in Kent has enabled us to secure funding to launch a £6.5 million development project on our existing site and keep ahead of the market as well as creating a better working environment and installing state of the art equipment to meet new customer requirements."
