Canterbury has one of the most buoyant economies in Kent making it an attractive location for new investors. It has a population of 141, 600 covering Canterbury City, Herne Bay and Whitstable. There are currently over 30 business parks, industrial and trading estates within the area.

  • The opening of Ebbsfleet International has given Canterbury faster links to London. High Speed 1 ‘HS1' domestic services will be operational in 2009, reducing travel times - Canterbury to London in 61 minutes. 
  • Canterbury attracts sectors such as business services, construction and property, tourism and leisure and has a strong manufacturing base. 
  • Whitefriars in the City of Canterbury is the multi-award winning retail development which has benefited from an investment of £100 million.  And the Marlowe theatre will be transformed with a £23million development.
  • Lakesview International Business Park in Canterbury is fast expanding. With 40 acres of readily available space, it has already attracted £14 million investment with new business space expected to reach 400,000 sq ft by 2007. 
  • Chaucer Business Park is fully let to a number of thriving companies with plans to develop new buildings and office space. Plus there are proposals to redevelop the 10 ha missed-use Wincheap estate
  • At Canterbury College there is a £47 million redevelopment programme underway and plans for a multi-million investment an innovation Centre at the University of Kent.
